B&B Italia Alvar Armchair
Alvar is a collection of armchairs designed by Antonio Citterio for B&B Italia, born from a reflection on wood as a material capable of standing the test of time, reinterpreting elements of Italian and Nordic tradition through a contemporary lens. The matte oak frame exudes an authentic, understated presence, allowing the material’s tactile quality and the precision of the craftsmanship to shine through. The character of the armchair is defined above all by the backrest woven from cork rope: a deliberately open weave that lightens the composition and creates a refined balance between solid and void. The seat, built on a slatted base and completed by a resting leather cushion, conveys a sense of measured comfort, consistent with the purity of the design. Nothing appears superfluous; every detail contributes to creating a discreet yet deeply recognizable object.
